Using Gift Cards to Make Life Easier

Maybe you are just getting used to your continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine, maybe you haven’t started wearing one yet, or maybe you are just tired regardless. I would like to speak about the idea of using gift cards to help those of us who may struggle a bit with energy levels during the day. Now I know not everyone has the monetary means to get gift cards, so this may work best for holidays, your birthday, or if someone asks if you need anything to be helpful. Using gift cards to shop for someone with sleep apnea is a thoughtful action any time of year.

Using gift cards for sleep apnea

It’s 'taboo' but…
Giving gift cards as a present can be seen as taboo/rude because it insinuates that the person giving the card didn’t care or put much thought into the gift. But honestly, gift cards are great!

What kind of gift cards make life easier?

Grocery and restaurant cards

Let’s say you are having a harder day. You are tired but you need to go to the grocery store to buy food for dinner. BAM! Doordash or Uber Eats cards to the rescue! Dinner can be served right to your door. Or maybe you really do need actual groceries but then you would have to drive to the store.

Delivery services

Uber or Lyft cards can be super helpful in taking you to appointments or stores, then maybe a Walmart gift card to get your essentials and back home again. Easy peasy.

Meal planning

There are also meal planning services like Hello Fresh that send pre-packaged meals to your door for a week, 2 weeks, or even a full month's worth. They have a lot of cool recipes with instructions on how to prepare the meals. I’ve tried this company before myself and it was really good!

Coffee cards

Starbucks gift cards are also wonderful because well, coffee. They also have tasty breakfast options if you’re dropping kids off in the morning or running late to work.

Cleaning services

If you have trouble with keeping house, maybe a cleaning service would be beneficial to you. A lot of companies exist for this purpose. Having a cleaner environment also helps with keeping your mood up and helps with energy levels.

Mood and mental health services

You’re allowed to spend your gift cards on fun things too! Do you like taking baths to relax you? Perhaps a card to a specialty store like Lush would be good for you. Or maybe a massage parlor to loosen up your muscles. Perhaps even someplace like the zoo?

Audible also has audiobooks and podcasts that you can listen to while you’re working or driving. It helps the time go by a bit faster and makes whatever task you’re doing a bit more interesting.

Gift cards may make life easier

As I’m writing this it just seems like one big advertisement. I’m not getting sponsored (I wish I was) but these are some things that I have found personally helped me, so maybe they’ll help one of you out there as well.

Would you try any of these? Do you think they’re even worth trying? Is there anything you would add to my list? Will you try using gift cards to shop for someone with sleep apnea this year? I’d love to hear your opinions!
