heated hose use
I use a heated hose, and my ResMed 11 is set to auto. I started waking up with a very dry mouth and throat. Would it be best to switch to a non heated hose of just play around with the manual settings?

. Do you also have a water well for moisture? I can see that a heated hose without moisture would dry you up. If that is not the issue, is it possible you are sleeping with your mouth open? If mouth breathing is the problem, you can get a chin strap that will help you keep your mouth closed at night. Chin straps are inexpensive, comfortable and not at all restrictive.
Before you make any adjustments to the machine, you might want to give the store where you bought the CPAP a call and see what they recommend. Other customers might have had the same issue.
