What's the hardest thing about living with sleep apnea?

Have you struggled to get used to CPAP therapy? Do your symptoms still bother you even on treatment? What have you found to be the hardest thing about life with sleep apnea?

  1. I've had problems with some headgear making my TMJ problem worse.

    1. I was diagnosed by my dentist. I thought it was tooth related. That was negative and I had an appliance made. That helped a little. Good luck with your appointment!

    2. I started out with the Phillips dreamwear. Now I have the Resmed AirFit N 20

  2. I didn't know how to properly explain this, but when I have problems with links, if I run my fingers along the mask and let go (snap it) in the trouble areas, it will usually fix the problem.
The other thing to look for in a full face mask... if you look at the foam part of the mask, behind the mask protector, carefully look for a small split. That will cause the mask to leak as well. That's why it's important to change the mask periodically. I change mine every 4-6 weeks.
Also, my post above should specify sleepapnea, not copd.

    1. Hi Tamara, I have to actually tighten up the straps, otherwise it seems to leak more. That seems to happen more under the chin first, then the mouth, then cheeks. Any area that can leak, will. My pulmonologist is happy with the readings, even though that red face tells that there are leaks. So that's good.

      1. the mask still doesn't fit right, unfortunately. Maybe it's worth looking into a different one that fits better? Or you can also try disposable CPAP mask liners, which create a soft fabric barrier between the mask and your skin. I know some folks who swear by these to eliminate the dreaded red marks. Good luck! 2. Thank you Tamara
