My sleep apnea dilemma

I have had sleep apnea over 12 years. Unfortunately, I have chronic sinusitis. Having frequent sinus infections which means having to spit mucus. Causing me not being able to use a CPAP machine. Now I have migraines and sinus headaches. Having numerous doctors has not changed this dilemma.

  1. I'm glad i decided to read the article because ive been having the same symptoms now i know it coming from my sleep appnea

    1. Hi . I see you're new to the community. Welcome! That sounds super uncomfortable. Have you talked with your doctor about your chronic sinus issues? There are a couple of common issues with CPAPs that might lead to sinus infections. If your machine is old, there might be tiny cracks or other spaces where bacteria builds up and hides when you clean the machine. If the water reservoir runs dry during use, that can dry out your sinuses, making them vulnerable to infection. Here is an article about how often you should replace your CPAP machine: https://sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net/living/update-cpap-machine. I hope this helps and that you get some relief. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. That must be very frustrating, . Is surgery an option for your chronic sinusitis? Here is an article about treatment options for sleep apnea:https://sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net/treatment. I wonder whether there is something other than CPAP you can try. Thinking of you and wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)
