Trouble falling asleep

I'm having problems getting to sleep with my nasal mask. I'm not dealing well with the forced exhale. My sleep tech lowered my exhale pressure, it helps some but now I'm getting a headache. I only started CPAP therapy about 2 weeks ago and I'm not hanging in there very well. I would appreciate any advice on getting to sleep. Thank you

  1. Ugh, I completely know how you're feeling! I used to be like that too. Don't get disappointed. It's not easy to get used to a CPAP machine. Years ago, I bought a CPAP machine without a humidifier, which was a complete waste of money. There is no benefit to using that type of CPAP. Now I use an automatic CPAP, and it has a very nice feature that automatically adjusts the pressure during the night. It is my second CPAP, and it helps my nose stays clear, stops my snoring, my mouth doesn't get dry from mouth breathing all night, and helps me wake up in a very energetic mood. You can try using a https://www.cpapoutlet.ca/en/Machines/Auto-Adjusting-(APAP). It is more comfortable and better than a regular CPAP machine.

    1. We have a selection of articles here https://sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net/cpap-tips that have many tips and suggestions. I know for me, I had to wear it some while awake to get use to the mask on my face and I also found that the ramp feature wasn't for me. That ramp just made my anxiety really bad. However, most people do like a ramp and one that is a long one of a good 30 minutes. They feel that helps them to fall asleep before the pressure goes up too much. It's a thought. Let me know if any of these articles helped you. Warmly, Lisa (SleepApnea.Sleep-Disorders.net Team Member and Advocate)
