ResMed Mask Issues and Nightmares

I have been using a CPAP for over ten years. When I first got it I loved it, but now, I’m having trouble keeping my mask from leaking air.
I have tried other full face masks and I’m having the same issue.
I have nightmares and I’m not realizing I take my mask off until morning. I am on sleep medication but that doesn’t always work for me.

  1. Me too. I find out when I discover the mask thrown across the room, or at least as far the hose will go! I’ve had problems with the masks. Always been res-med masks and machines for over 35 years. Briefly tried other masks, mostly Res-Med. No difference.

    1. I get that too.

      1. Hello, Thank you for being an active member of our community. In case you haven't already, I recommend consulting with your sleep specialist. They may suggest a new study or a pressure adjustment for your condition. Additionally, if you start taking different medications, it could alter your sleep apnea and require a different device. I can attest to this from personal experience. Please keep us informed of your progress and I hope you feel better soon. Kind regards, Matt G. (from the sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net team).

        1. Hi and . Have either of you considered trying an EPAP machine instead? Here is an article about the different devices for sleep apnea that includes the EPAP: https://sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net/devices. , did your problems with leakage begin when you started on the sleep medicine? For me, certain sleep aids cause me to panic in my sleep. Could that be happening to you? Is it possible you are sleeping in a different position than you used to? That can also cause leakage. Strategically positioned pillow can help you hold your position throughout the night. It might be worth trying to see whether it makes a difference. Warmest of wishes to you both. - Lori (Team Member)
