packing Cpap

I take my Cpap where ever I go. It is considered a medical device, therefore it is a free carry-on when flying. I also carry an 8' extension cord because outlets in motels are not always where I need them. I also have cochlear implants. I pack my battery chargers and vibrating alarm clock in my CPAP bag. I also have a small piece of PVC pipe with duct tape wrapped around it. I have been out of my area and out of the insurance network and needed a new hose. Duct tape did the trick until I got home. In regards to distilled water. In foreign countries, you can go to an automobile parts store and buy battery water. It is distilled and works fine in CPAP machine. I have done it many times.

  1. great advice about packing an extension cord. I actually have taken two (one with 2 prongs, one with 3) to places where the housing is older and not necessarily wired for one or the other plug-ins). And they have both come in handy!

I did not know this about distilled water, THANK YOU, that's very clever and does the trick!

Duct tape is a very useful temporary fix for a hosing puncture, but I would still encourage folks to order a new hose right away if this happens.

Related: with my machine came an unheated hose, but I upgraded to the heated one. I have kept the unheated one and will pack it for "just in case." You can just coil it inside your clothes bag. I was able to use it as a temporary fix when I got a leak at the spot where the hose meets the connector during one trip!

    1. Plodder that's great information! The steps that you take to pack everything that you will need, plus things to take just in case. I had never heard of battery water being the same as distilled water. That's very good info.
      Thank you for sharing!
