If you had a time machine...

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to your younger self about living with sleep apnea?

  1. , if I had a time machine, I would tell my teenage self to not ignore the snoring, it doesn't get better with age.

    1. If I could go back in time, I would have done better at maintaining my weight and actually losing some. Now I struggle more with my weight and I know that my SA is affected because of it.

      1. , I'm curious, how do you think your SA is affected by your weight? Warmly, Vashanti (Sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net Community Advocate)

      2. Hello Vashanti, I'm just seeing your message, so I do apologize for the delayed response.
My doctors have mentioned concern about my obesity, especially when we discuss surgery, or even the twilight sleep. I have learned so much about this and realize that there are more fat cells in my mouth and throat, even the tongue.
The tongue can go to the back of the throat and block the throat, hence not allowing air/oxygen to pass through. This can make a difference when trying to sleep or even be sedated, because it can make it impossible to breathe, or even to cause a heart attack.
