Hypoxemia without apnea

I recently had a home sleep study and the results came back showing that my saturation fell below 88% for over 100 minutes. But no apnea episodes. I sleep on my stomach so I didn’t expect to have typical apnea. I do have severe asthma and wake up often at night. But the severe desaturation vas a surprise. I am supposed to go back to do a split night test but I bought a pulse oximeter and am yet to reproduce the desaturation. Is it possible to have a false positive sleep study hypoxemia result?

  1. Hi , I do wish so much that I had an answer for you, but we can't give medical advice about test results over the internet for your safety. If you haven't already done so, it is best to talk with your doctor about the possibility of a false positive sleep study hypoxemia result. I hope this article with a closer look at OSA may help in the meantime (https://sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net/clinical/osa-severity).

Please keep us updated on how you are doing! Also, we would really like to hear more about your split night test too. Warmly, Angie Hott (Team Member)
