I have been trying out masks. I often sleep with my mouth open, do I have to get a full face mask?

  1. I also am a mouth breather and found with using the FFM, my mouth still opened. I use a chin strap but that is also bulky and is put on prior to the FFM. It does work though.

    1. Hi @bsexton7 I was a mouth breather when I first started. Over time that slowly stopped for me and I don't any more. How long have you been on your therapy? Warmly, Lisa (SleepApnea.Sleep-Disorders.net Team Member and Advocate)

  2. Hi bsexton7
    That's a good question.
Even though I am a mouth breather, they tried all types of masks on me. From the nose masks to the full face.
I am a mouth breather. I wasn't comfortable with the nose masks, the full face were better, but not quite, until the doctor found one with a ledge for my chin to rest on.
So to answer your question, your doctor may offer you a choice. He or she may make suggestions and you may choose nose or full faced.
When you do though, think of your overall health and which would provide the best care for you.
Ask questions and check out what they have. Get the one that will best suit you.
I hope you have a restful night.
