sinus blockage and using pillow mask

I have sinus problems which makes breathing with the pillow mask difficult. Closing my mouth and breathing through my noise is a chore and sometimes impossible.

With my mouth open is the CPAP unit effective using the pillow mask?

What do others do when you have colds using the pillow mask?

  1. Thanks for the advice. I've tried each of the elements at times but not all together so Ill give it a try. But when things get too hard to take, I just do without and have 1-hour naps during the night. Not a very good night's sleep for sure and then nap all day.

    1. Hi there, thank you for this great question. As a nasal pillow user myself, I sometimes suffer from congestion. I don't think the therapy is as effective if you breathe through your mouth and personally I find that requires concentration. So poor sleep. Here are some great articles from Patient Leaders who have dealt with colds and sinus problems that you might find helpful: https://sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net/living/cpap-common-cold and https://sleepapnea.sleep-disorders.net/living/congestion-use-cpap.
