Settings for Dreamstation

I have a Dreamstation BiPap with supplemental oxygen concentrator. I use a Resmed F20 full face mask. Does anybody know what setting my mask type should be? And .. I noticed a Flex setting. The options are off and Bi-Flex. It's set to off but I have Bi-Flex settings 9/15. Should that be changed to Bi-Flex. I would appreciate any info I can get.

  1. I appreciate it but I have been on the phone all day trying to get an answer. Everybody has another number I can call until we got to let us take your name and number and have somebody call you back. The videos don't get into my situation. I have a Phillips BiPap with a Resmed mask.. you guessed it each said call the other. It's my fault and I accept blame.. that didn't help. I was trying to run a mask fit, hit mask type by must mistake and I don't remember what it was sat on. I just put in where it feels the best and maybe by 2030 somebody will call me .. then again, maybe they won't. I appreciate the help, you should send a bill to Philips, Lincare and Resmed. Stupid me would think this would be important enough for them to help. This is my home mini ventilator at night. Again thanks for trying to help.

    1. Hi . My husband has the same frustrations with his supplier. He filled his prescription with a local medical supply store stupidly believing he would be dealing with them from then on, but then he found himself dealing with Lincare for future supplies. He has never once gotten a human on the phone. It's maddening. Is there a medical supply store--a physical one with real human beings working in a physical location-- you can call? If not, I would call your doctor's office, if you haven't already, and see whether they can refer you to someone for help. The sad thing is that you can't even just give up. You need help because you need the machine and you need it to work properly. Please reach out if you still don't get answers. Maybe we can brainstorm this or others will chime in. My heart goes out to you. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Hi . I don't have any experience with the Dreamstation BiPap, but I hope someone else chimes in here. Your best bet would be to call the medical supply store and ask for a consultation. They should be able to show you how to use it either in person or through a virtual meeting. In the meantime, I did find a user manual online. Here is a link: https://www.documents.philips.com/doclib/enc/11407840/DreamStation_BiPAP_User_Manual.pdf. If you do a Google search, you will also find several YouTube videos about using the settings for the Dreamstation BiPap that might help. Those might be easier to follow than the manual. I hope you are able to get it working correctly and that you get an awesome night's sleep. - Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. From the time they put me on this machine it has been a pain. I had a ruptured brain aneurysm and SAH stroke and when I was in ICU they discovered I also have central sleep apnea. I did the same thing with getting my machine from the local Lincare. I live in a rural community and I have to go 50 miles to the nearest "BIG" city. My sleep apnea doctor... he's a pediatrician by day and apnea lab supervisor by night. I always said they waited until he left the room then voted him into the position. It sounds like a joke but when I was having trouble with my APIs yo-yoing I went to see him and he honestly looked at me and asked me what I thought we should do. I haven't seen him since. They don't keep anybody in the local Lincare office for more than a week then they are moved out and nobody knows anything. I said I could go stand on the corner and ask a stranger and they would know more about the machine than Lincare or my doctor. And to just put the cherry on top, Dreamstation is Philips. The same one that was recalled. They also recalled the Philips ventilator I was on while I was in the hospital. So bu gosh if I get cancer the ambulance chasers will beat me to the cemetery. It just gets to a point where it's so screwed up that you have to just keep smiling....

I know how to get to the controls but I don't know what setting the mask should be on. It feels normal at 2 so I left it there. My apneas have increased each night but most of those are my central apneas and they can increase because of stress. Stress? What stress??

I'm waiting for a call back from Lincare and another from Philips but I have been waiting about 3 days so I'm not hopeful that I will hear from them.

Thanks for helping, there's some other forums on the web .. one is really good but I didn't have it bookmarked and I have to see if I can find it.

    2. Hi . We live in a rural area as well. I totally get it. We sometimes drive up to two hours just to get better healthcare. Is that an option for you? It almost seems like you need to start all over with a new (and better trained) sleep specialist and a new machine. Some people have been waiting for years for answers from Philips. - Lori (Team Member)
