CPAP Control

At the advice of my pulmonologist I started using CPAP after being diagnosed with AFIB about 2 years ago and I hate it. I have been a long sleeper .. typically less than 6 hrs per night. Now I feel a hostage to my CPAP machine..if I don't get 6 hrs my score will be or be good enough. I've gotten used to using it ..sort of .. but it had led me up chest..i.e. taking a gap after noon and wearing it to jump a couple of hours. Anyone else have this problem???

  1. I think my husband was no longer monitored after one year of good CPAP use. It can't hurt to call your insurance company and see what they require. Keep doing the best you can. -Melissa, team member

    1. Hi . It can be a bit unsettling to know someone is tracking your sleep and I am sure you are not alone in "cheating" a bit. Have you talked with your doctor about your issues with the six-hour minimum? Unfortunately, some insurance companies will deny coverage if your CPAP doesn't record at least six hours on average per night because they assume you are taking it off during the night. That defeats the purpose. Maybe your doctor can help you figure out how to make the schedule work for you. I hope the CPAP is helping with your cardiac issues. My husband's heart was slightly enlarged when he started using a CPAP for sleep apnea and now it's back to normal. It's amazing how much of a difference it can make on cardiac health. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
