Cpap Machines Don’t Help Me

I’ve been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea for over 35 years, and haven’t had a positive result due to it. Around 20 years ago, with a new primary doctor, he noticed a change in my blood work, and sent me to a hematologist. That doctor was fantastic, he had reviewed my records before I came in, and he said that he could see exactly when it started and what was the problem. He named the date correctly, the reason, and the treatment. The reason was I stopped using my cpap because it was so loud, and my cat got stuck between the outside door and the screen door, and even though people were ringing the doorbell and knocking, I couldn’t hear anything over my old cpap. So he ordered a new one, since that one was my original one. Unfortunately, it was one of the ones that monitored your usage, and reported it back to the supplier. They never told me about that, and I didn’t get supplies for over 16 months. It wasn’t until I saw a sleep doctor that he forced them to give me new equipment.

New CPAP, same me?

The new one wasn’t much better to use, though I did try to get the 4 hours, 25-26 days a month. My sleep doctor wanted me to get more, but since I didn’t get any relief from it, he prescribed Armodafinal to help me wake up. It doesn’t help much either, though it did help me more then, than now.

The sleep doctor, who I really liked, and worked to help me find masks that worked, and everything, went to the VA, and I couldn’t find another doctor to replace him. He was great, and I admit I didn’t try much. My primary watches my blood work, and so far it’s been fine.

But I still don’t wear it anywhere near as often as I should. When I do, I watch for the 4 hour mark, then take it off. I’m frequently so stuffed up, or have a closed up throat.

I have arranged with the equipment company to automatically send me supplies, so that they don’t go through the local company. 🙂

What are my options?

To not make this any longer than it is, you can probably tell I’m not a fan of the Cpap. I’ve had 2 sleep studies, one back when I first was diagnosed, and one when I started seeing the sleep doctor. The doctor said it’s gotten much worse than it was before, and using a Cpap is the only solution.

I want the implant, so using it isn’t dependent upon what is going on at the time. I know I need treatment, but I can’t wear it everyday. Even once a week is hard. I’ve tried different masks, and different systems, nothing works for more than a little while.
Cpap’s and me just don’t get along.
