Mask Wipes Help With Leaks
Living with greasy skin can become an annoyance. Throughout the day I am constantly washing my face. It seems to be a never-ending battle. Cleaning the tube and mask on my CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine is 1 of my least favorite things to do. I have noticed that when my mask gets greasy, it leaks more. Recently, I discovered something new: CPAP mask wipes.
Leaks are common
Unfortunately, we all probably deal with leaky masks at some point. It’s extremely frustrating to wake up in the middle of the night with air blasting into your eye or on your face. Trying to readjust straps and the mask when we are half asleep can turn into what seems like a forever project. Then the frustration sets in and we are now wide awake. Does this scenario sound familiar? It has happened to me more times than I want to remember.
Every Saturday is when I usually give my mask and tube a thorough cleaning. Being someone who likes routines, I’ll wake up Saturday morning and disconnect everything and throw it in the sink. Soap is soap in my book, I’ll use regular hand soap and hot water to wash everything. After a thorough scrub of the mask, I’ll pour a generous amount of hand soap directly into the tube. Then it’ll sit in the sink for 15 minutes. After the soak, it takes about 3 or 4 rinses to get all of the soap out. Meanwhile, there is water dripping all over the floor and counter – a big pain in the neck in my book.
Discovering CPAP mask wipes
One day while shopping in a drug shop I stumbled on CPAP supplies. I rarely go to drug stores so I had no idea that we could purchase supplies in a brick-and-mortar store. Sitting there on the shelf were mask wipes for CPAP. This was like finding a golden nugget in my book. Trying new things is right up my alley. And making my life easier is an extra bonus in my book. Usually, I am someone who will do a little research before trying something new but having been woken up the night before, I was willing to give anything a try.
That evening before bed I pulled out a wipe and wiped down my mask. These wipes are alcohol-free, they don’t have a scent. It left my mask free of grease. This gave me a great night of sleep because there weren’t any leaks. The mask was able to securely stay under my nose. Drugstore prices are usually inflated for this type of product. Amazon has been my go-to place to order more. There are multiple brands out there and I am not someone to say that 1 is better than the other. The brand you like is a personal preference.
CPAP mask wipes help with leaks
These CPAP mask wipes have become a daily routine for me. There are still the weekly cleanings but during the week it’s nice to grab a wipe before bed and give my mask a quick cleaning. Since I’ve been using them, I have rarely experienced leaks.
Hopefully, this will help with your CPAP therapy.
